Larry Mahan Dead Or Alive?

There have been rumors that Larry Mahan has died, and some people have posted their condolences on social media.

One of his friend assured that he was still alive and needed prayer. The message reads,

“Don Gay talked to Larry Mahan & his girls around 9:30 tonight. He is home from the hospital and in hospice care. We are praying for comfort in his transition to complete healing. He is still fighting hard and surrounded by much love and prayers.

Rumors say Larry Mahan has passed away, but it is NOT TRUE he is alive! Mr. Mahan has battled for over 3 yrs with bone marrow cancer and is home with his daughters transitioning into the arms of Jesus. Please keep his family in your prayers through this transition.”

At the age of 14, he started competing in professional rodeo. In 1963, he began competing in the Rodeo Cowboys Association (RCA).

He was the first rider to participate in three NFR events in a single year. He competed and frequently won in saddle bronc riding, bareback riding, and bull riding in the RCA.

In 1965, he was the highest-paid bull rider, and in 1967, he became the first to win more than $50,000 in a single season. He brought in more than $280,000 in 1970. Despite winning the all-around championship in 1973, he had a challenging decade in the 1970s due to injuries.
